Three Peaks Challenge for Tracey

On Saturday 21st July, Tracey Underwood, Programme Manager at Boots, will be setting out to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to help raise funds for Family Care.

Tracey explains all about the challenge and why she wanted to raise money for Family Care:

"I have always been a keen walker and love walking in the Peak District and the Lake District. I am also a person who likes a good challenge and when I heard about the Yorkshire Three Peak Challenge I thought I would give it a go. (The challenge involves a 25 mile circular route that takes in the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (691m), Whernside (728m) and Ingleborough (723m)- all to be completed in 12 hours)

At a similar time, the team at Boots (Boots Brand Exclusives) who have ‘adopted’ Spiral as our local charity were in discussions with regards to what our future activities should be. This year’s birthday party was raised and having had the pleasure of being  part of last year’s celebrations, I wanted to ensure that this year’s party was bigger and better. Sufficient funds would be required to enable this to happen. So, not being the type of person to ask for something for nothing, I decided to combine the walking and the challenge and ask for sponsorship to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks.

Training is going well and I have enjoyed numerous walks over the last few months, including undertaking the second stage of the Light to Dark Trail in the Peak District (16 miles) to help build the stamina for the big event on the 21st July.

Training aside, it will be the thought of a witnessing a repeat of those happy smiling faces from last year’s party that will get me through the challenge!"
