Macmillan Children’s Bereavement Practitioner

Salary £20,193 to £29,866 pro rata, 18.5 hours per week, offered initially as a 2.5 year fixed post
Could you be part of our vision for Spiral, an innovative new Nottinghamshire Bereavement Service?
Spiral is being launched by an exciting new partnership of Family Care, Macmillan Cancer Support, and the Catholic Children's Society Nottingham to provide specialist therapeutic support, advice and information to Nottinghamshire children and young people affected by bereavement, and their carers. As Children’s Bereavement Practitioner you will provide direct support to children and young people affected by bereavement, including therapeutic emotional support. You will empower parents to assist their grieving child by providing support and advice along with training professionals and signposting to other resources.
You will have extensive experience of direct work with children and young people around issues of loss. Along with knowledge of bereavement and its impact on families, you will also understand risk assessment processes and legislation relating to children and young people. A DipSW in social work, therapeutic approaches (play, art, drama), counselling, youth work, teaching, nursing or similar qualification is an essential requirement of the post. We are looking for a someone who enjoys working within a team and is willing to travel to fulfil the needs of the role (including across the city and county).
