Becoming an adoptive parent is a life-changing experience and the rewards will last a lifetime but we understand that becoming a family through adoption can also be challenging.
That is why we are committed to supporting you from the first time you contact Family Care and ensure a dedicated Social Worker from the start of your application. The support we offer doesn’t end at the point your children join your family but continues throughout your lives together. We appreciate that there may be times that you will need practical or therapeutic support for both you and your children and we will work with you to identify where you may need support and help you access it.
We also have regular groups, as well as social activities including an annual family picnic, as well as therapeutic support with our in-house specialist Therapists. A full list of the support we offer our adoptive families can be found in our Adoption Information Pack. (Clickable link to pack).
Family Care has been providing an adoption service since 1926 and we are committed to supporting and advising those whose lives have been touched by adoption. We hold the records for people adopted through Family Care, whether recently or in the past, and our archive also includes records from many other agencies. A full list of the records we hold can be found here.
The support and advice we can provide includes:
- providing information
- considering options
- access to records
- help with tracing
- acting as an intermediary
- facilitating and supporting reunions
